The KENNAMETAL 1199228 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6537L specification, it features a 4.70 mm cutting diameter, a 130-degree standard point angle, and a three-flute regular spiral geometry with web-thinned, tapered web construction. The bright uncoated finish and K10 carbide grade make it well suited for cutting cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Right-hand cutting direction and a straight cylindrical shank allow direct chuck or collet mounting in standard CNC or manual drilling equipment. Overall length is 74.00 mm with a 36.00 mm flute length and a 29.00 mm maximum drilling depth.
This drill is intended for professional machining environments where tight tolerances and material integrity are critical. The three-flute configuration improves chip evacuation and feed rates compared to two-flute designs, making it practical for production drilling in cast iron components, aluminum structural parts, and high-temp alloy workpieces. It is sized within the 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm diameter range per DIN designation and carries a diameter tolerance of 0.004 to 0.016 mm, supporting repeatable, close-tolerance hole quality across batch runs.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or production tooling choice for straight-shank drill applications conforming to DIN 6537L, with a 6 mm shank diameter suitable for standard collet chucks and drill chucks in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Secure the straight shank in a properly sized collet or drill chuck and confirm runout before drilling. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 29.00 mm without retracting to clear chips, particularly when drilling cast iron or high-temp alloys where chip packing can cause tool breakage.
