The KENNAMETAL 1191630 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create precise, accurate starting points for follow-on drilling operations. Built to Series B505Z specifications, it features a 90-degree point angle and a 10 mm cutting diameter, making it well-suited for general-purpose spotting in metalworking environments. The bright, uncoated carbide construction in Manufacturers Grade K10 provides good wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. With a straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand cutting direction, this drill fits standard toolholders and CNC machining center spindles without special adapters. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers and users of this tool.
This spotting drill is used in machine shops, production machining cells, and toolroom environments where accurate hole location is critical before final drilling or reaming. Its 66 mm overall length and 12 mm flute length keep the tool compact and rigid, reducing deflection during the spotting operation. The two-flute spiral design evacuates chips efficiently even in short-engagement spotting cuts. It is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills operating on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a defined conical seat is required before drilling to size.
Designed as an OEM-style spotting drill in the KENNAMETAL B505Z series, compatible with standard straight-shank toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 10 mm shank diameter.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC operators in metalworking environments. Before changing or setting the tool, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an appropriate safe state per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or toolholder and verify runout before production use. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and machine type.
