The KENNAMETAL 1184129 is a solid carbide milling insert in the LFEW series, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. It carries the ISO designation LFEW150316ERLN and is manufactured to the KC725M grade, featuring a multilayer PVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and TiN. This coating sequence improves wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted cuts and high-feed applications. The insert measures 0.6217 inches in length, 0.3752 inches in width, and 0.1299 inches in thickness, with a 0.0630-inch corner radius. It is a right-hand configuration with a screw-in holding method. Machinists and CNC operators working in steel, stainless steel, and superalloy applications will find this insert suited for production milling work.
This insert is applied in milling operations targeting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers in both roughing and semi-finishing passes where consistent tool life and edge integrity are required. The LN chip breaker geometry helps manage chip flow and reduce cutting forces at the edge. The 90-degree included angle and rectangular insert shape make it a fit for square-shoulder and face milling toolholders that accept LFEW-series inserts.
Designed for use in LFEW-series milling toolholders that accept LFEW150316 inserts with screw-in mounting. Compatible with toolholders specifying insert size code 2524 and a 0.1732-inch (4.4 mm) mounting hole diameter. Verify toolholder hand specification to confirm right-hand insert fitment before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always bring the spindle to a full stop and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification using the correct Torx or hex key. Inspect the pocket seat and shim for wear or debris before installing a fresh insert, as a contaminated pocket will cause premature edge failure or insert breakage.
