The KENNAMETAL 1184113 is a solid carbide milling insert in the LFEW series, designed for face and shoulder milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries the ISO designation LFEW220480ENLN and is manufactured in grade KC725M with a tri-layer PVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and TiN. The insert measures 7/8 inches long, 5/8 inches wide, and 3/16 inches thick, with a 5/16-inch corner radius. The neutral hand orientation and screw-holding method make it suitable for a range of standard milling toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for use in milling applications where the primary workpiece materials are steel (P-grade), stainless steel (M-grade), superalloys, and titanium (S-grade). It fits toolholders designed for the LFEW series with a mounting hole diameter of 0.2165 inches. The LN chip breaker geometry and 0-degree rake angle support controlled chip evacuation across a range of feeds and depths of cut. The 90-degree included angle suits square-shoulder and face milling setups common in aerospace, energy, and general metalworking production runs.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Seat the insert fully against all toolholder pockets before tightening the clamping screw; use the torque value specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before each insert change. Never run a visibly chipped or cracked insert, as carbide failure at speed presents a serious safety hazard.
