The KENNAMETAL 1184088 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation LNEU1245R08 in the KC725M grade. It is a rectangular, single-sided insert with a neutral hand orientation and a 90-degree included angle. The insert measures 0.5000 inches in length, 0.3750 inches wide, and 0.1772 inches thick, with a 0.0315-inch corner radius. The TiAlN coating is applied via a PVD process, delivering wear resistance suited to high-speed and interrupted-cut milling in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. Four cutting edges are available per insert. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and toolroom professionals using the screw-holding method standard to the LN cutter series.
This insert is designed for milling applications involving steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It carries material grades C5, C6, and C7. The LNEU series geometry features a positive rake angle and a honed cutting edge style, reducing cutting forces and improving surface finish on challenging workpiece materials. The common chip breaker geometry suits a broad range of depth-of-cut and feed-rate conditions typical in production milling environments. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of five pieces.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL LN-series milling cutter bodies. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO designation LNEU1245R08 and is compatible with holders specified for LN-series inserts with a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle.
Milling inserts in the LN series are installed by machinists or toolroom technicians using the screw-holding method; ensure the cutter body pocket and screw threads are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Torque the insert clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer specification found in the toolholder documentation. Always disengage the spindle and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert seat and screw for wear at each index interval.
