The KENNAMETAL 1183265 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TPG432 geometry, part of the KENDEX series. It features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The insert is uncoated (bright finish) with a flat top chip breaker, positive rake, and a honed cutting edge. It delivers three usable cutting edges per insert. Grade K68 is engineered for high to moderate wear resistance and toughness, making it well suited for machining stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for finishing and light roughing operations.
The 1183265 is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Its positive side clearance and 11-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces and minimize workpiece deflection, which is important when working with non-ferrous metals and superalloys. The flat top geometry provides a stable, predictable chip formation across a range of depths. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). The insert is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder compatible with TPG-style seats and is appropriate for both light and moderate material removal passes.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure without overtightening, which can chip the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installing a new edge, and confirm that the correct cutting edge is indexed and seated flush before resuming cuts.
