The KENNAMETAL 1183076 is a solid carbide turning insert in the KENDEX series, designed for high-speed metal cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ANSI designation TPG434 and ISO code TPG220416, with a TiN coating applied via PVD process for enhanced surface hardness and wear resistance. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a positive rake angle, positive side clearance, and a honed cutting edge style. With three usable cutting edges and a flat-top chip breaker geometry, it delivers consistent performance in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. The insert weighs 0.028 pounds.
This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring operations. Its KC730 grade is characterized by high to moderate wear resistance combined with toughness, making it well suited for continuous and interrupted cuts in steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials. Superalloys and titanium are also listed as primary workpiece materials. The insert is held in place via a clamp-style toolholder and is compatible with KENDEX-series toolholders that accept TPG-style inserts. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5.
Designed for use with KENDEX-series clamp-style toolholders accepting TPG insert style with a positive clearance angle. Verified compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium per KC730 grade specifications. Material grades C2, C3, and C4 apply.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate KENDEX clamp-style toolholder. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before seating or rotating the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and clamp are free of chips and debris before clamping to maintain proper seating and avoid premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamp screw.
