The KENNAMETAL 1183067 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG321 industry-standard geometry, coated with TiN via a PVD process under the KC730 manufacturer grade designation. Part of the KENDEX series, this triangular insert features a 60-degree included angle, a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/8 inch thickness. With a positive rake angle and honed cutting edge style, it is designed for efficient material removal in precision turning, facing, and boring operations. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, aligning with ISO material codes P, M, and S. The flat-top chip breaker and 1/64 inch corner radius make it appropriate for light to medium roughing and finishing passes. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). It is held in the toolholder via a clamp-style mounting method, consistent with standard TPG-style toolholders. The insert length measures 16.50 mm (0.6495 inches), fitting within the 0.6000 to 0.6500 decimal inch length range for this insert class.
Designed for use in standard TPG321-compatible clamp-style toolholders. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards. Suitable for CNC lathes and manual turning centers equipped for TPG-style triangular inserts with a clamp holding method.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder seat and clamp are clean and free of chips before installation, as debris under the insert can cause premature edge failure or inaccurate depth of cut. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamp screw, as those values are specific to the holder and are not defined by the insert itself.
