The KENNAMETAL 1182695 is a solid carbide milling insert designated by ISO code SPGN120316 and ANSI code SPG424, manufactured in the KC725M grade. The insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a flat top chip breaker design. A PVD-applied TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during high-speed cutting operations. With four usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, the insert delivers consistent performance across multiple tool engagements. It is designed for screw-held toolholders and suits a wide range of milling applications in ferrous and exotic materials.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium alloys, covering material grades C5, C6, and C7 (ISO material codes P, M, and S). It fits residential and industrial machining environments alike, including CNC milling centers and manual milling machines where SPGN-style insert seats are used. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand or left-hand toolholder configurations. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.75 inches, making it suitable for moderate to aggressive radial engagement passes on compatible toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for SPGN-series milling toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed circle square insert with screw clamping, conforming to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under excess clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
