Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1163533 is a solid carbide round profiling insert designed for precision turning and profiling operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built to the RCMK35 standard and manufactured in the K313 fine grain carbide grade, this uncoated insert delivers consistent edge integrity when cutting non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The round geometry provides a full 360-degree included angle, giving the insert four usable cutting edges per piece. It mounts using the K-Lock system, which combines a clamp and pin holding method to resist cutting forces during profiling passes. With a 0.375-inch inscribed circle and a 0.521-inch thickness, this insert fits standard RCMK toolholders used across general-purpose and high-precision turning applications.

This insert is suited for profiling and turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. It is targeted at applications involving non-ferrous workpiece materials such as aluminum and copper alloys, as well as superalloys and titanium where fine grain carbide grades are preferred for their edge retention and wear resistance. A positive rake angle of 7 degrees and a 5-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces and improve chip flow during light-to-moderate depth passes. Maximum depth of cut is 0.1875 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC operators performing contour turning, radius blending, or finish profiling are the primary users.

Key Features

  • Round RCMK insert geometry with 360-degree included angle for full-perimeter profiling
  • K313 fine grain carbide grade optimized for non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium
  • Four cutting edges per insert extend tooling value in high-volume turning operations
  • K-Lock holding method uses clamp and pin retention for secure, repeatable seating
  • Positive 7-degree rake angle reduces cutting forces and improves chip evacuation
  • Uncoated WC-Co finish preserves sharp edge geometry on sensitive workpiece materials

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert conforming to RCMK35 and ISO code RCMK090700 standards, compatible with K-Lock style toolholders accepting a 0.375-inch inscribed circle round insert.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before engaging the K-Lock clamp and pin to ensure proper support and prevent edge chipping. Inspect the toolholder pocket and pin for wear or damage before installing a new insert, as a compromised pocket will reduce edge life and dimensional accuracy.
