The KENNAMETAL 1163235 is a solid carbide profiling and turning insert in the DPGR432 configuration, part of the Kennametal Top Notch series. It carries the KC730 grade designation and features a PVD-applied TiN coating, targeting steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. The insert has a parallelogram shape with a 55-degree included angle, an 8-degree relief angle, a 5-degree positive rake angle, and a 0.0312-inch corner radius. With two cutting edges per insert and a common chipbreaker geometry, it delivers consistent chip control across profiling and finishing passes in turning operations. Weight is 0.2205 pounds per insert.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing profiling, contour turning, and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloy or titanium workpieces. The KC730 grade with PVD TiN coating is engineered for ISO material groups P10, P20, M10, M20, S10, and S20, covering a broad range of ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloy applications. It is installed using a clamp-style insert holding method and is compatible with Top Notch series toolholders designed for the DPGR432 insert style. Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom operators in production or job-shop environments.
Designed for use with Top Notch series clamping toolholders accepting the DPGR432 insert style. ISO equivalent designation is DCGR150408. Compatible with ANSI standard DPGR432 toolholder seats. Intended for ISO workpiece material groups P, M, and S.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate Top Notch clamp-style toolholder. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and clamping force. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for the insert geometry and workpiece material combination.
