The KENNAMETAL 1163233 is a solid carbide profiling and turning insert in the NPGR52 style, designed for high-performance material removal on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. This left-hand insert carries the KC730 manufacturer grade and features a PVD-applied TiN coating that extends tool life in demanding P, M, and S workpiece material classes. The parallelogram-shaped insert has a 55-degree included angle, an 8-degree relief angle, a positive rake of 10 degrees, and a 0.0312-inch corner radius. It provides 2 cutting edges per insert and is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for profiling and external turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. The KC730 grade targets ISO P10 through P20, M10 through M20, and S10 through S20 material grade ranges, making it applicable to general steel turning, stainless steel finishing, and difficult-to-machine superalloy and titanium cuts. The 0.1250-inch maximum depth of cut and 0.3750-inch insert length make it appropriate for light-to-moderate radial profiling passes on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is cataloged under the Top Notch series and conforms to ISO code KCGR110308L08.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or clamp screw tool specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamp. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate tool nose positioning.
