The KENNAMETAL 1163037 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for precision lathe and turning center operations. Manufactured from K68 carbide grade, this insert delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous alloys. It features a 60-degree triangular geometry (TP style) with a neutral hand orientation and a screw-on holding method. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, insert length is 0.4331 inches (11 mm), and the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). Licensed machinists and CNC turning professionals install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning applications on stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum or non-ferrous materials where high wear resistance and controlled toughness are required. The positive rake and positive side clearance geometry reduce cutting forces and are well matched to finishing and light roughing passes. The triangular shape provides three usable cutting edges per insert, making it an efficient choice for moderate-depth turning operations with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm).
Designed for use in screw-on turning toolholders that accept TP-style triangular inserts with an ANSI size code of 41 and an ISO size code of 110204. ANSI insert code TP41; ISO insert code TP110204; ISO code DCMT11T304FW; industry standard number TPGT21505LF.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC turning technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque screwdriver specified for the toolholder to secure the clamp screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and edge geometry.
