The KENNAMETAL 1163000 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the T220F geometry with grade K313. It is a triangular (T-style) indexable insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a positive rake angle, positive side clearance, and a screw-on holding method, making it suitable for finish to light-roughing cuts. With an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches, an insert length of 0.4331 inches (11 millimeters), and a corner radius of 0.004 inches, it is built for precision work on demanding materials. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for turning operations on stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The K313 grade offers high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness, making it appropriate for both M-class (stainless steel), K-class (cast iron), and N-class (aluminum and non-ferrous) workpiece materials. The F chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in finish turning and light-cutting applications. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 millimeters). This insert suits production environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed for use in screw-on style turning toolholders accepting T-style (triangular) inserts with ANSI size code 220 and ISO size code 110301. Industry standard number TNGA332T0820. Compatible with workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S per ISO classification. Material grades C3 and C4.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing the insert, power down the machine and verify the spindle is fully stopped. Seat the insert flush against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and prevent premature edge failure.
