The KENNAMETAL 1162429 is a TCMT-style triangular turning insert in grade KC850, designed for high-performance metal removal in finishing and light machining operations. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, which delivers a balance of wear resistance and toughness across a range of workpiece materials. With a 60-degree included angle, a 0.0313-inch corner radius, and a positive rake geometry with honed cutting edge, the 1162429 is built for screw-on toolholders and provides three usable cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production environments will find this insert well matched to steel and stainless steel turning cycles.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and special or super alloys. It falls under ISO material grade classifications P, M, K, and S, covering moderate wear-resistance-to-toughness applications across those material groups. Finishing and light machining are the primary chip breaker applications supported by the LF geometry. The insert is compatible with standard TCMT screw-on toolholders and is sold individually with a minimum order of five pieces per transaction.
Designed for use in standard TCMT screw-on indexable toolholders. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and special or super alloys per ISO workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. Material grades C5 and C6 apply.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp force. Inspect the insert seat and screw for debris or damage before seating a new insert.
