The KENNAMETAL 1162402 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT style, designed for precision turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ANSI insert designation VBMT331LF and ISO designation VBMT160404. The insert is manufactured with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN under the proprietary KC850 grade, which delivers moderate wear resistance combined with toughness for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes. Installation Notes
