The KENNAMETAL 1162357 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT style, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Carrying the KC850 manufacturer grade with a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, this insert delivers moderate wear resistance and toughness across a range of workpiece materials. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge. The LF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and light machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, as well as special and super alloys. The CCMT geometry with a positive side clearance keeps cutting forces low, making it well matched to lighter depth-of-cut passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). With 2 cutting edges per insert and screw-on holding, it fits standard CCMT-compatible toolholders in both inch and metric configurations. ANSI insert code is CCMT2151; ISO insert code is CCMT060204.

Installation is performed by qualified CNC operators or machinists. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification to prevent insert movement during the cut. Inspect the pocket and clamping hardware for chips or wear before installing a fresh edge.
