Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1162199 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CPMT21.51LF geometry, designed for precision metal-cutting operations in CNC and manual turning applications. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a positive side clearance, and a honed cutting edge style. The insert measures 6.45 mm in length with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. Grade K313 delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well suited for finishing and light machining passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert using a screw-on holding method.

This insert is intended for finishing and light machining operations including turning, facing, and boring. It is rated for use on non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum per ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Its neutral hand orientation and two available cutting edges make it a practical choice for both OD turning and internal boring setups across a range of CNC lathe configurations.

Key Features

  • Grade K313 uncoated carbide provides high wear resistance for finishing on stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials
  • 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with positive rake and positive side clearance for clean chip flow
  • LF chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing and light machining passes
  • Screw-on insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders
  • Two cutting edges per insert; neutral hand for flexible application in turning, facing, and boring
  • Conforms to both ANSI (CPMT2151) and ISO (CPMT060204) standards for broad toolholder compatibility

Compatibility

Designed for screw-on CPMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code CPMT2151 and ISO insert code CPMT060204. Suitable for toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle insert with a 3/32-inch thickness and a 0.1142-inch (2.80 mm) hole diameter.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert seat and screw threads for chips or damage before each insert change.
