The KENNAMETAL 1161933 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DPGT21.50LF configuration, coated with TiN via a PVD process and graded KC730. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and an 11-degree relief angle, making it suited for finishing and light machining operations. The insert measures 0.6104 inches in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0039-inch corner radius. With two cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, this insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians on turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications.
This insert is designed for use on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and high-temperature alloys. The KC730 grade delivers high to moderate wear resistance combined with adequate toughness across these material categories. It is well suited for production turning on CNC lathes and machining centers where consistent surface finish and close tolerances are required. The LF chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during light-pass finishing cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches.
Designed as a screw-on OEM-style replacement turning insert conforming to ANSI standard DPGT21502 and ISO standard DPGT070201, compatible with toolholders accepting DPGT-style inserts with a 0.1102-inch hole diameter and 0.25-inch inscribed circle.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder without overtightening, which can crack the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating and edge orientation against the toolholder pocket before resuming operation.
