The KENNAMETAL 1161926 is a DCMT21.51LF-geometry solid carbide turning insert finished with a PVD TiN coating and graded KC730. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge. It carries two cutting edges and a screw-on holding method. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining operations, making this insert well-suited to close-tolerance work where surface finish and edge consistency matter. Installation is handled by licensed machinists or CNC setup technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium. The KC730 grade delivers high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across those material groups, supporting consistent performance in both interrupted and continuous cuts at finishing depths. The insert conforms to ANSI code DCMT2151 and ISO code DCMT070204.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting DCMT-geometry inserts per ANSI code DCMT2151 and ISO code DCMT070204. Suitable for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or CNC technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Secure the insert clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the correct Torx or hex key — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excess clamping force. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
