The KENNAMETAL 1161895 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the CCMT21.51LF industry designation, features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, and is finished with a PVD-applied TiN coating in the KC730 grade. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes, producing tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes. With a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle, the insert reduces cutting forces and minimizes heat buildup at the edge. The cutting edge is honed for consistency. This insert is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 5 units.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. The KC730 grade delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness across P, M, and K workpiece material classifications. It is intended for use in screw-on style toolholders that accept CCMT-style inserts. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production environments, and aerospace or energy component manufacturing will find this insert appropriate for light finishing depths of cut up to 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm).
Designed as a screw-on style replacement insert conforming to ANSI insert code CCMT2151 and ISO insert code CCMT060204, fitting toolholders engineered for CCMT-profile inserts with a 0.1142-inch screw hole diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the screw-on insert pocket. Always index or replace inserts with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, de-energized state. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for this geometry, as doing so can chip the cutting edge and compromise workpiece surface quality.
