The KENNAMETAL 1161886 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCGT32.51LF geometry with KC730 grade. It features a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) TiN coating that provides high wear resistance while maintaining toughness across a range of workpiece materials. The insert has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 1/64 inch corner radius, and a positive rake angle of 5 degrees with honed cutting edge style. Two cutting edges are available per insert. The LF chip breaker is optimized for finishing and light machining operations. This insert is held by a screw-on method and is suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments install this insert in compatible toolholders.
This insert is designed for finishing and light machining of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. The KC730 grade delivers high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness when cutting ISO P (steel), M (stainless steel), and K (cast iron) material groups, with secondary suitability for ISO S (superalloys and titanium) workpieces. It is well suited to both light roughing passes and precision finish cuts where surface integrity and dimensional control are priorities. The screw-on holding method provides secure clamping and repeatable indexing during high-precision turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers.
Designed for use in screw-on style CCGT toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. Conforms to ANSI insert code CCGT3251 and ISO insert code CCGT09T304. Compatible with toolholders designed for ANSI size code 3251 and ISO size code 09T304 inserts.
Installation is performed by machining professionals on CNC lathes or manual turning centers. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamp force. Verify insert seating and toolholder pocket cleanliness before resuming cutting to ensure dimensional accuracy and safe operation.
