It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN under the KC850 manufacturer grade, which balances moderate wear resistance with toughness across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert carries a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It is suited for steel and stainless steel as primary workpiece materials, with cast iron and special or super alloys as secondary applications. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert belongs to the KENNAMETAL KENLOC series and is rated for medium machining chip breaker operation. The VNGP style with neutral hand makes it adaptable across multiple cutting directions. Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped, spindle locked, and all energy sources isolated per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer; do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Index to an unused cutting edge before replacing the insert entirely to maximize the value of all 4 available edges.
