The KENNAMETAL 1161355 is a VNMP332 KC850 solid carbide turning insert designed for high-performance metal cutting in CNC turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. This insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN applied to a carbide substrate, delivering a balance of moderate wear resistance and toughness across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a sharp, precise cutting geometry suited for finishing and medium machining applications. With 4 usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert offers consistent performance and cost efficiency per edge. The insert measures 16.61 mm in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. It is well suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and special or super alloys, covering material classification codes P, M, K, and S. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with KENLOC-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert holding methods. The chip breaker geometry is rated for medium machining operations, making this insert appropriate for moderate material removal rates on a variety of component geometries. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the primary installers and users of this insert.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept VNMP-style inserts with clamp and pin holding methods. ANSI insert code VNMP332; ISO insert code VNMP160408. Compatible with toolholders specified for a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch insert thickness, and 0.150-inch hole diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, power down and lock out the machine spindle per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against the pocket walls and verify the clamp or pin is properly engaged before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating of 1.25 mm to avoid insert fracture or toolholder damage.
