The KENNAMETAL 1161352 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMS432 geometry, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured under the KENLOC series, this insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN that delivers moderate wear resistance and toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. The triangular insert shape provides 6 cutting edges per insert, and the neutral hand orientation suits standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders with KENLOC-style clamping. It carries a KC850 grade designation and is engineered for medium machining chip-breaking conditions. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and special or super alloys. It performs across ISO material classifications P, M, K, and S, making it a versatile choice for shops working mixed-material runs. The 0.5-inch inscribed circle and 1/32-inch corner radius are well-suited to moderate depth-of-cut finishing and semi-finishing passes. A honed cutting edge style reduces microchipping at the edge, particularly when cutting stainless steel or high-nickel alloys. The insert meets both ANSI and ISO dimensional standards.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept TNMS432 inserts with clamp or pin retention. Conforms to ANSI insert code TNMS432 and ISO insert code TNMS220408. Multi-use application includes turning, facing, and boring operations.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use a calibrated torque wrench on clamp screws per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
