The KENNAMETAL 1161207 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in a T-shape (60-degree triangle) with a neutral hand orientation and screw-on holding method, this insert carries a K68 manufacturer grade rated for high to moderate wear resistance and toughness. It features a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, an 11 mm insert length, and a 1/64-inch corner radius suited to roughing and medium machining operations. The uncoated carbide construction keeps cutting edges sharp and predictable across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is appropriate for turning stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials, corresponding to ISO material codes M, K, and N. The chip breaker geometry supports roughing and medium machining passes, making it a practical choice for job shop and production environments where insert flexibility across material types is needed. It installs via a screw-on clamping method common in standard turning toolholders and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use with screw-on style turning toolholders accepting T-shape (triangle) inserts per ANSI insert code T221 and ISO insert code T110304. Compatible with ISO primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S. ISO code SNMG190612MP and industry standard number DNMG442FF are associated designations for cross-reference.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual lathes. Power down and zero the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque screwdriver or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping force. Inspect the toolholder seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
