The KENNAMETAL 1161155 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CNMS432 geometry, part of the KENLOC series. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.03125-inch corner radius. The insert carries Kennametal grade K68, engineered for high wear-resistance across stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. With 4 cutting edges and a negative rake and side clearance design, it delivers consistent performance in medium machining conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in turning, facing, and boring applications where dimensional repeatability and edge life are priorities.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing turning, facing, and boring operations. Its K68 grade characteristics make it effective on stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum, and non-ferrous materials (N), as well as superalloys and titanium (S). The CNMS432 geometry is a common fit in KENLOC-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert-holding methods. The medium chip breaker profile supports stable cuts at moderate feeds and depths, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards under codes CNMS432 and CNMS120408, respectively.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept CNMS432 geometry inserts secured by clamp and pin holding methods, conforming to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for KENLOC-style holders to avoid insert movement or chipping. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before each insert change.
