The KENNAMETAL 1161147 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert with ANSI designation CNMP432 and ISO designation CNMP120408. It belongs to the KENLOC series and features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation. The insert has a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.1875 inch thickness, and a 0.0313 inch corner radius. Grade K68 delivers high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness across stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous material groups. With 4 cutting edges, negative rake, and a honed cutting edge style, this insert suits medium machining chip breaker operations in turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals running CNC lathes and turning centers in industrial and production environments. It targets non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, and also covers stainless steel and cast iron applications. The CNMP432 insert style with negative side clearance and a clamp-and-pin holding method suits toolholders designed around the KENLOC clamping system. It is suited for both light finishing passes and medium-depth roughing cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inch (1.25 mm).

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate KENLOC clamp and pin hardware to secure the insert; do not overtighten the clamp screw without following the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance. Inspect the insert pocket and pin locator for chips or debris before seating a new edge.
