The KENNAMETAL 1161113 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the KENLOC series, conforming to ANSI insert code CNGP432 and ISO insert code CNGP120408. This neutral-hand, 80-degree diamond-shaped insert features a negative rake and negative side clearance with a honed cutting edge. It measures 12.9 mm (0.5077 inches) in length, carries a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and has a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. Grade K313 is engineered for high to moderate wear resistance and toughness, making it well suited to demanding cutting applications on stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum or other non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning professionals install this insert in clamp-and-pin tooling systems.
This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring operations and is classified as a medium-machining chip breaker style. It performs across primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S, covering non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The uncoated bright finish makes it particularly effective on non-ferrous and abrasive materials where coated grades may cause built-up edge. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Four cutting edges are available per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume turning cells.
Designed for use in KENLOC series clamp-and-pin toolholders accepting CNGP-style inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and ANSI size code 432. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for interchangeability in compatible negative-rake turning toolholders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Secure the insert using the clamp-and-pin holding method specified for the toolholder; verify seating before resuming cuts. Inspect the cutting edge and seat pocket for chips or debris each time the insert is indexed to a new edge.
