The KENNAMETAL 1161106 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert with an ANSI designation of VNGP332 and ISO designation VNGP160408, belonging to the KENLOC series. This insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a honed cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it is engineered for high wear-resistance across a range of turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The K313 grade is a solid carbide uncoated substrate suited for demanding cutting applications. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is designed for use in external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning machines. It is well-suited for machining non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The KENLOC series insert seats into compatible negative-rake toolholders using a clamp and pin holding method. Its primary workpiece material codes are P, M, K, N, and S, covering a broad range of material groups from stainless steel requiring high wear-resistance to aluminum and non-ferrous applications. This makes it a versatile option for job shops and production environments running varied material types.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and secure with the clamp and pin per the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications. Inspect the insert seat and clamp components for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper clamping force and runout.
