The KENNAMETAL 1160929 is a solid carbide turning insert in a 60-degree triangular (T) shape, coated with TiN via a PVD process under the KC730 grade designation. It carries an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches, an insert length of 11.00 mm (0.4331 inches), a thickness of 0.125 inches, and a corner radius of 1/64 inches (0.0156 inches). The KC730 grade is engineered for high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. This insert is held by screw and features a positive side clearance with an 11-degree relief angle. It is specified and installed by machinists and CNC turning technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning operations on steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpieces, with secondary application in heat-resistant superalloys (S). The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), making it appropriate for finish to light-medium turning passes. It is a neutral-hand insert, compatible with toolholders designed for TCMT-style seating, and is identified by industry standard number TCMT3251LF. Typical applications include close-tolerance diameter turning, facing, and light profiling where surface finish and tool life consistency are the priority.
Identified by industry standard number TCMT3251LF; designed for toolholders accepting TCMT-style screw-lock turning inserts. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and K; secondary codes M and S. Material grades C2, C3, and C4.
Index or replace this insert with the machine spindle fully stopped and the toolholder secured in the turret. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified screw procedure when clamping the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating each new edge. Disposal of carbide inserts should follow applicable shop waste and recycling protocols for tungsten carbide materials.
