The KENNAMETAL 1160840 is a solid carbide turning insert in the KENLOC series, designated CNGG430LF with grade KC730. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a TiN PVD coating, and a neutral hand orientation. The insert is designed for finishing and light machining operations. The LF chip breaker geometry, combined with a honed cutting edge and a 10-degree rake angle, supports consistent chip control and surface finish in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. This insert is suited for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in operations including turning, facing, and boring. It is intended for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamp screw driver specified by the tool holder manufacturer when seating the clamp — do not overtighten by estimate. Inspect the pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating the insert. Verify insert orientation and hand before resuming cuts.
