The KENNAMETAL 1160837 is a solid carbide turning insert with a PVD-applied TiN coating, designed for high-productivity metal cutting in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries the ANSI insert code WNGP432 and ISO code WNGP080402, and belongs to the KENLOC series. The insert features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The KC730 grade delivers high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. Six cutting edges are available per insert, extending tool life between changeovers.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both production and job-shop environments. The K chip breaker geometry and 10-degree rake angle support controlled chip flow at moderate to high cutting parameters. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry make it compatible with rigid, clamped toolholding systems. It is appropriate for both light and moderate depth-of-cut passes, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inch (1.25 mm). Machinists and CNC operators working to ANSI and ISO insert standards will find this insert dimensionally consistent with KENLOC-compatible toolholders that accept WNGP-style inserts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for KENLOC-series toolholders accepting WNGP432 (ANSI) or WNGP080402 (ISO) style inserts with clamp and pin holding methods.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and locked-out condition. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamp or pin; never run the insert with a loose or partially seated clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp hardware for wear or debris before each indexing cycle. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque and insert seating confirmation.
