The KENNAMETAL 1160304 is a TNMG433 triangular turning insert in the KENLOC series, manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN under the KC850 grade designation. The insert measures 22 millimeters (0.866 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) corner radius, and a 3/16-inch insert thickness. With 6 cutting edges, a negative rake angle, and a neutral hand orientation, this insert is designed for medium machining operations on steel and stainless steel. It is installed by licensed machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC or manual turning equipment.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and special and super alloys, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. The KC850 grade delivers moderate wear resistance balanced with toughness, making it effective across a range of cutting conditions where tool life consistency matters. The TNMG433 geometry is a widely used standard in production turning environments, including both high-volume and job-shop applications. The KENLOC series is compatible with clamp and pin-style insert holding methods.
Designed for use in KENLOC-style toolholders accepting TNMG433 inserts with clamp or pin retention. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and special and super alloys per ISO material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using appropriate insert clamps or pins per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or indexing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before mounting. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping guidelines for the specific KENLOC holder in use.
