The KENNAMETAL 1160068 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG332 geometry, part of the KENLOC series. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The insert is uncoated (bright finish), carries a K68 manufacturer grade, and is rated for high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness across stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. With four cutting edges and a negative rake, it is designed for medium machining chip breaker operations. Licensed machinists and CNC turning professionals install this insert in KENLOC-compatible toolholders for production turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It performs on a range of workpiece materials including non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, and cast iron, corresponding to material codes P, M, K, N, and S. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to multiple setups. The KENLOC series is designed for secure clamping via both clamp and pin holding methods, making it appropriate for stable, repeatable cuts in both manual and CNC lathe environments.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept the VNMG332 insert geometry with clamp and pin retention. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO equivalent insert code is VNMG160408.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per applicable safety procedures. Seat the insert firmly against all pockets surfaces before engaging the clamp and pin to ensure proper indexing and secure retention. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before each insert change. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for the insert geometry and workpiece material combination.
