The KENNAMETAL 1159964 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CNMG432P geometry, part of the KENLOC series. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake angle of 10 degrees. The insert measures 12.90 mm (0.5077 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. With four available cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is designed for productive metal removal in turning, facing, and boring operations. It is held in place by clamp and pin methods and suits machine tool operators and CNC machinists working with precision turning applications.
This insert is primarily intended for use on non-ferrous metals as well as superalloys and titanium, corresponding to primary workpiece material codes N and S. It is suited for light to moderate depth-of-cut applications, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The KENLOC series CNMG style makes it a practical choice for shops running standard CNMG-compatible toolholders in production turning environments, including facing and boring passes where a neutral insert hand is preferred.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series CNMG-compatible toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for CNMG432P inserts. Material grades C3 and C4 apply.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Verify that the clamp and pin holding mechanism is properly engaged and that the insert seats flush in the pocket before resuming cuts. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidelines and machine shop safety protocols when handling carbide inserts.
