The KENNAMETAL 1159615 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG431P geometry, coated with TiN via a PVD process and assigned the KC730 manufacturer grade. It carries a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative rake angle of 10 degrees, a neutral hand orientation, and a honed cutting edge style. The insert delivers high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece categories. With four usable cutting edges and a chip breaker optimized for medium machining operations, it is suited for high-volume turning applications where consistent tool life matters. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for medium machining chip breaker conditions and is rated for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It targets primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary suitability for additional stainless and superalloy grades. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with Kennametal KENLOC-style toolholders that accept DNMG-geometry inserts. The insert conforms to both ANSI (DNMG431) and ISO (DNMG150404) standards, making it interchangeable in holders designed around either specification.

Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear, debris, or damage before seating the new insert. Never mix inserts of different geometries or grades in the same pocket without confirming dimensional compatibility.
