The KENNAMETAL 1159585 is a CNMG432LF-style indexable turning insert in the KENLOC series, engineered for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiN coating, an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, and a neutral hand orientation. The LF chip breaker geometry is designed for finishing and light machining operations, producing tight chip control at reduced depths of cut. The KC730 grade delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well suited for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Cutting edge style is honed with a negative rake and negative side clearance.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on ferrous materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K), as well as secondary applications on superalloys and titanium (S). It is a standard fit for KENLOC-style toolholders that accept CNMG 432 (ISO 120408) inserts with clamp or pin holding. Typical users are CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production shops, job shops, and maintenance environments. Each insert provides 4 usable cutting edges. Designed for KENLOC-series toolholders accepting CNMG 432 (ISO CNMG120408) inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thickness, and clamp or pin holding. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secure before seating or indexing the insert. Verify the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before installation. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamp force.
