The KENNAMETAL 1157894 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SEAN series, designated by ISO code SEAN1203AFENLN and manufactured in grade KC725M. The insert features a square shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 90-degree included angle, and a 0.0449-inch corner radius. It carries a PVD-applied multilayer TiN-TiCN-TiN coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance during high-speed milling operations. With a 0.1252-inch thickness and a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, this insert is held in place by a screw-clamping method. It is sized for toolholders accepting SEAN-style inserts and is installed by licensed machining professionals and CNC tool-setup technicians.
This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering material application codes P, M, and S per ISO classification. It suits roughing and semi-finishing passes where edge durability and coating adhesion are critical. The LN chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during interrupted cuts and contour milling on machining centers. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose profile milling in job-shop and production environments working with ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces.
Designed for use in SEAN-series screw-clamp milling toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed circle square insert. Compatible with workpiece materials classified under ISO codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), and S (superalloys and titanium), corresponding to material grades C5, C6, and C7.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle locked out and all power isolated before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw to seat the insert fully in the pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the KC725M grade and target workpiece material.
