The KENNAMETAL 1157802 is a solid carbide milling insert designated by ISO code SEHW1204AFTN and ANSI code SEHW43A6T, manufactured to the KC725M grade. The insert features a square SEHW geometry with a positive rake angle, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a flat-top chip breaker. It carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous milling operations. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert is suited for productive face milling, shoulder milling, and similar toolpaths on ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and trade technicians are not the target here; this insert is installed by CNC machinists and tooling engineers.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering material grades P, M, and S. The KC725M grade and PVD TiAlN coating are optimized for cutting conditions where built-up edge and thermal deformation are primary concerns. It fits into screw-clamped SEHW-series milling bodies and is applicable in both roughing and semi-finishing passes where a maximum depth of cut up to 0.5000 inches is required. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO dimensional standards, making it interchangeable with other compliant SEHW toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production insert for SEHW-series screw-clamped milling toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO dimensional standards. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling engineers using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Ensure the pocket seat and screw threads are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Index to a fresh cutting edge or replace the insert when wear flat or edge deterioration is observed; do not attempt to regrind PVD-coated solid carbide inserts. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specification for the clamping screw to avoid insert cracking or improper seating.
