The KENNAMETAL 1153182 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to DIN 6537L specification, it features a 130-degree drill point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and improved chip evacuation. The bright (uncoated) finish and K10 carbide grade make it well-suited for high-performance drilling in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and similar materials. At 4.37 inches overall length with a 2.6-inch flute and a straight-cylindrical shank, it fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. This bit is sold individually and intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual machine shop environments.
This drill bit is applied in production and job-shop machining where tight hole tolerances and tool life are priorities. The three-flute spiral configuration improves chip clearance and surface finish compared to standard two-flute designs. The parallel web with web thinning reduces the chisel edge load at entry. Typical use cases include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in fixture plates, structural components, and precision parts. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist external coolant delivery is the standard approach for heat management during extended runs.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber length drill bit conforming to DIN 6537L, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and ER collet systems accepting a 0.4375-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with carbide tooling handling practices. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the bit from the toolholder. Carbide is brittle — avoid dropping or side-loading the tool, and do not use it in machines with excessive runout, as this significantly shortens tool life. Apply appropriate external coolant during drilling to manage heat; no internal coolant path is present on this tool.
