The KENNAMETAL 1153172 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit in Letter E (0.25 inches / 6.35 mm) diameter, designed for precise, high-performance drilling in demanding machining environments. Built to DIN 6537L specification, it features a 130-degree point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The bright, uncoated carbide construction and K10 grade material make it well-suited for use in harder workpiece materials where edge retention and dimensional accuracy are critical. With a 2-flute helical configuration and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it supports effective chip evacuation in through-hole and interrupted-cut applications. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary installers.
This drill bit is engineered for general drilling as well as cross-hole and inclined hole exit applications. The straight-cylindrical shank (0.25 inches) fits standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders. Its overall length of 3.23 inches (82 mm) and flute length of 1.69 inches (43 mm) place it in the standard jobber-length class, making it compatible with vertical machining centers, CNC drilling machines, and manual drill presses used in precision machine shops and production environments. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tool for applications requiring a Letter E (0.25-inch) straight-shank jobber drill in Series K105. Compatible with standard 0.25-inch drill chucks and collet holders on CNC and manual drilling equipment.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the bit from the toolholder. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loads or impacts during setup. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier guidelines for speeds, feeds, and clamping force to avoid edge chipping or premature tool failure.
