The KENNAMETAL 1152712 is a left-hand E-STFP style indexable boring bar built for precision internal turning operations. Constructed from solid carbide, it accepts TP-style inserts held in place by a screw-clamp method and features a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees. The bar has an overall length of 203.2 mm (8.0 inches) and a 12.70 mm (0.5 inch) shank diameter. A built-in through-coolant channel with a 0.187-inch coolant hole diameter supports chip evacuation and heat management during deep-bore work. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This boring bar is suited for small-bore internal turning and finishing applications requiring a minimum bore diameter of 15.24 mm (0.600 inches). The left-hand orientation targets specific tooling setups where conventional right-hand bars cannot reach or where spindle rotation and approach direction demand a mirror-image configuration. It is appropriate for both manual lathe and CNC turning center use across job shop and production environments where tight bore tolerances are required.
Designed to accept TP-style indexable inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch thickness, consistent with the E-STFP toolholder system specification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be powered down and the turret or tool post fully locked out before mounting or removing the boring bar. Use calibrated torque tools when securing the insert screw to the manufacturer-specified value listed in the toolholder documentation. Verify shank clamping depth and bar overhang against the machine tool's rigidity limits before initiating a cut.
