The KENNAMETAL 1152035 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Featuring a KC730 grade substrate with a PVD-applied TiN coating, this insert delivers consistent edge wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert is configured for left-hand cutting with a 1.5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm. A positive rake angle of 10 degrees and a K-style chip breaker promote efficient chip evacuation, reducing built-up edge and improving surface finish. It belongs to the Top Notch series and is suited for installation by machinists and tooling specialists working in production turning environments.
This insert is intended for grooving applications in materials classified under C2, C3, and C4 material grades, which include cast irons and non-ferrous alloys. The NG insert style and 2M150 insert size place it within the Top Notch toolholder system, a common platform in both job shop and production machining. It is appropriate for metric-measurement setups and is typically used in applications requiring shallow-to-moderate groove depths in the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm range. The included angle of 55 degrees and a corner radius of 0.19 mm support controlled material removal in confined grooving profiles.

Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and all power isolated from the turning center before toolholder access. Use the appropriate Top Notch clamping screw and torx key for secure insert retention - do not overtighten or substitute non-OEM clamping hardware. Verify left-hand toolholder orientation before mounting to confirm correct cutting geometry. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure full contact and repeatable positioning.
