The KENNAMETAL 1114888 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the NG2094K geometry, it carries the KC850 grade designation and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN for improved wear resistance and tool life across a range of workpiece materials. The insert has a left-hand cutting orientation, a 2.39 mm cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm. A positive rake angle of 10 degrees and a K-style chip breaker promote efficient chip evacuation in grooving applications. This insert belongs to the Top Notch series and is sized for use by machinists and toolroom professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for grooving, parting, and profiling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where consistent chip control and dimensional accuracy are required. The KC850 grade and CVD multilayer coating make it appropriate for continuous and mildly interrupted cuts on steel and cast iron. The 55-degree included angle and 3-degree lead angle support precision groove geometry. It is intended for use in Top Notch series toolholders compatible with the NG insert style and size 2094 seat. Minimum order quantity is 5 pieces; package quantity is 1.
Designed for use in Top Notch series toolholders accepting the NG insert style at size 2094. Material grade classification C5 and C6 indicates suitability for steel and cast iron turning applications.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Seat and clamping surfaces should be clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping screws. Verify insert hand orientation against the toolholder before commencing any cut.
