The KENNAMETAL 1114661 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the NGP style geometry in the Top Notch series, this uncoated K68 carbide insert features a cutting width of 0.79 mm (0.0311 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 1.27 mm (0.0500 inches). The positive rake angle of 5 degrees promotes clean chip flow and reduces cutting forces on the workpiece. Machining professionals and CNC tool setters install this insert into compatible Top Notch grooving toolholders for high-precision groove work on small-diameter or close-tolerance features.
This insert is suited for grooving applications in residential machine shops and industrial production environments alike. The K68 uncoated carbide grade is selected for its toughness and edge stability on non-ferrous metals and cast iron. With an included angle of 55 degrees, a corner radius of 0.09 mm (0.0035 inches), and a right-hand orientation, it fits turning setups requiring controlled, repeatable groove profiles. The NGP2031 insert size and Top Notch series designation are the primary references when selecting compatible toolholders. This insert is a single-use, non-multi-use style and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces.
Designed for use with Top Notch series grooving toolholders that accept the NGP2031 insert size. Consult your toolholder documentation to confirm seat and clamping compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tool setters. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and Kennametal-specified clamping hardware to seat the insert fully - do not overtighten by hand estimation alone. Inspect the toolholder seat for chips or wear before installing a new insert, as debris under the seat will affect groove geometry and can fracture the insert under load.
