The KENNAMETAL 1114629 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to Top Notch series standards, this uncoated insert features a K68 grade carbide with a neutral rake geometry. It delivers a cutting width of 0.125 inches (3.18 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.250 inches (6.35 mm). The full-radius nose profile with a corner radius of 0.063 inches (1.59 mm) promotes smooth chip flow and consistent finish quality. Right-hand orientation is standard. This insert is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with cast iron, hardened materials, and abrasive non-ferrous alloys where an uncoated K68 carbide grade performs reliably.
This insert fits typical grooving and recessing applications on production turning equipment. The NRD insert style and 3062 insert size make it compatible with Top Notch series grooving toolholders used in precision turning operations. Applications include groove turning, parting, and profiling where a controlled cutting width and defined depth of cut are required. The 55-degree included angle supports accurate profile work. It is a single-use, non-reversible insert with a right-hand cutting orientation, suitable for both light and medium-duty operations within its rated depth-of-cut range of 0.200 to 0.300 inches (5.08 to 7.62 mm).
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for KENNAMETAL Top Notch series grooving toolholders accepting NRD-style inserts in the 3062 insert size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the Top Notch toolholder to secure the insert without over-tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
