The KENNAMETAL 1114483 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for external grooving, parting, and related turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The insert carries the NGD3125K style designation and Kennametal grade K313, an uncoated bright-finish carbide grade suited for non-ferrous and cast iron applications. It features a 3.18 mm (0.1252 inch) cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 6.35 mm (0.2500 inch), and a positive 10-degree rake angle. The right-hand orientation and 3-degree lead angle make it a direct fit for standard Top Notch toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert as a replacement cutting edge.
This insert is intended for grooving and cutoff work on turning machines where precise groove width and depth control are required. The K313 grade with bright uncoated finish performs well in finishing and semi-finishing passes on cast iron and non-ferrous materials classified under material grades C3 and C4. The Top Notch series is a widely used platform in production turning environments. The K chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in these materials. This is a single-insert package sold in multiples of five.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders that accept the NGD insert style. Compatible with toolholders configured for right-hand, external grooving applications in the Top Notch platform.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, the machine must be powered down and all axes brought to a safe home position per shop safety procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and Kennametal-specified clamping hardware for the Top Notch toolholder to secure the insert without overtightening. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
