The KENNAMETAL 1114347 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the NGP2031 insert style with a KC730 grade substrate and a PVD-applied TiN finish, this right-hand insert delivers a 0.79 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 1.27 mm. The positive rake angle of 5 degrees and the 0.09 mm corner radius support controlled chip formation in tight-tolerance grooving applications. Machinists and toolroom operators working in production turning environments will find this insert suited for demanding interrupted and continuous groove profiles.
This insert is intended for use in grooving applications where precise width control and consistent depth are required. It fits into Top Notch series toolholders and is rated for use in material grade groups C2, C3, and C4, covering a range of steel, cast iron, and nonferrous workpiece materials. The 55-degree included angle and 3-degree lead angle make it suitable for standard external grooving setups in both job shop and production turning environments. Each insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders accepting NGP-style inserts. Compatible with workpiece material grade groups C2, C3, and C4. Refer to KENNAMETAL Top Notch toolholder documentation to confirm holder-to-insert fit before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop, lockout state. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely - do not overtighten by feel alone; follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Confirm correct hand orientation and depth stop settings before resuming cutting operations.
