The KENNAMETAL 1114335 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the Top Notch series standard, this insert carries the KC730 grade designation and features a physical vapor deposition (PVD) applied TiN coating for improved wear resistance and surface finish on the workpiece. It is configured for left-hand cutting with a 1.83 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.39 mm. The positive rake angle of 10 degrees and K-style chip breaker promote controlled chip evacuation in tight grooving applications. Toolroom machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a replaceable cutting edge in compatible Top Notch grooving toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving, recessing, and undercutting operations in production turning environments. The KC730 grade and TiN PVD coating make it appropriate for use on steel and alloy workpiece materials corresponding to material grades C2, C3, and C4. The insert size designation is 3072 within the Top Notch series. It is intended for metric-dimensioned setups and fits applications where the maximum depth of cut falls within the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm range. Both job shop and high-volume production turning applications are typical use cases.
Designed as a replacement or spare cutting insert for KENNAMETAL Top Notch series grooving toolholders that accept NG3072 insert geometry. Compatible with workpiece material grades C2, C3, and C4 per the manufacturer grade classification.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and the turret or toolpost de-energized before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp-screw tool specified for the Top Notch toolholder to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamping mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper contact and accurate cutting geometry.
